Our New Owners Seminar is specifically designed for those embarking on the child care journey. This intensive two day seminar is for people who have applied (or who have decided to apply) for a licence to operate a child care centre in New South Wales .

Seminar Content

INTRODUCTION TO CENTRE MANAGEMENT
An introduction to the key areas of responsibility of a manager of a child care service; i.e. legal, financial, employment, policy development, planning, OH&S, accountability and reporting.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT - ENSURING YOUR SERVICE IS PROFITABLE
An examination of the key elements of profitability within a children's service.
Eg. Setting budgets, occupancy rates, Child Care Benefit.

SELECTING STAFF - HOW TO GET IT RIGHT
The quality of your service depends to a large extent on the quality of the staff you employ. This module will examine the processes of recruitment.

REGULATIONS & LEGISLATION
An examination of the Children's Services Regulation, the Children Services Advisor's (CSA) role and an overview of other legislation that affects children's services.

QUALITY CHILD CARE - WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
Visit to a quality child care service.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & ACCREDITATION SYSTEM (QIAS)
An overview of the Child Care Accreditation process. What is accreditation - its purpose and how to survive the process.

MARKETING YOUR SERVICE
Hints and tips on marketing your service.

COMMUNICATING WITH FAMILIES
This workshop will look at ways to improve family/staff communication and will consider strategies for responding to 'challenging' parents and situations.

Venue and Times

The Seminars will be held over two days at Child Care New South Wales, Parramatta from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Lunch will be included along with morning and afternoon tea.

Cost

Cost for the 2 day seminar is $550 per person or $990 for a couple (inc GST).

This schedule outlines the Association's intentions with regard to dates. However, Child Care NSW reserves the right to cancel or postpone a seminar.
